Why it mattered

In advanced technology and life sciences, the building is an instrument. Utilities, cleanrooms and validation must be right the first time, because the equipment and products that follow are worth far more than the structure.

The challenge

A chipmaker is building the central utility and support buildings that serve its new fabrication plant.

Tool installation in the fab depends on utilities being commissioned in a strict order. A slip here does not stay here: it stalls equipment worth many times the cost of the buildings themselves.

Schedule at a glance

The whole program, on one line.

Start to finish, as the schedule tells it. For work still in progress, the bar moves with today's data date.

How we held the date

Our approach, phase by phase.

The same disciplined sequence we bring to every engagement, shaped around what this project needed most.

PHASE 01PHASE 02PHASE 03PHASE 04
PHASE 01Utilities first

Utility systems sequenced to be commissioned before tool or process installation begins.

PHASE 02Own the interfaces

Hundreds of contractor interfaces held as dated, owned milestones in one integrated schedule.

PHASE 03Coordinate daily

Look-ahead planning that aligns thousands of daily workers in constrained spaces.

PHASE 04Qualify and validate

Commissioning, qualification and validation built into the schedule from the first baseline.

What changed

The difference we made

Measured the only way that matters: whether the date and the budget held.

Result 01Utilities ahead of tools

Utility commissioning is sequenced to hand over before each tool install area opens.

Result 02Hundreds of interfaces tracked

Contractor-to-contractor interfaces sit in the master schedule as dated, owned milestones.

Result 03Daily alignment

Look-ahead plans coordinate thousands of daily workers in constrained spaces.
