Critical Path Analysis

Rigorous analysis of critical and near-critical paths that shows leadership exactly where attention and money will move the date, and where they will not.

Scope statement

Know what truly drives your end date, and what will drive it next.

Reported critical paths are often wrong. Constraints, calendars, lags and out-of-sequence progress all distort the longest path, so management spends its energy on visible problems while the real driver advances unnoticed behind them.

We analyze the driving logic beneath the reported dates: the longest path, multiple float paths, near-critical chains and the shifts in criticality between updates. You learn what controls completion today, what is closing in behind it and which interventions will genuinely buy time, before you commit money to acceleration.

What we bring to Critical Path Analysis

Senior practitioners, proven method and the right technology, specified line by line.

C-01

Longest-path validation

Driving logic traced activity by activity to confirm the true critical path.

INCLUDED
C-02

Near-critical exposure

Paths within striking distance of the critical path identified and ranked by consequence.

INCLUDED
C-03

Float path analysis

Multiple float paths examined to show the order in which risks will bite.

INCLUDED
C-04

Distortion detection

Constraints, lags and calendar effects that misrepresent criticality exposed and explained.

INCLUDED
C-05

Criticality trends

Shifts in the critical path tracked period over period, with root causes.

INCLUDED
C-06

Intervention targeting

Specific recommendations on where acceleration or attention will actually move the date.

INCLUDED
SH-03 · Approach

A clear path, milestone by milestone.

Every engagement follows a disciplined sequence, so you always know what happens next and why.

PHASE 01PHASE 02PHASE 03PHASE 04
PHASE 01Trace

We trace driving logic from each key milestone back to the data date.

PHASE 02Test

We test for distortion from constraints, calendars and lags.

PHASE 03Rank

We rank critical and near-critical exposure by likelihood and consequence.

PHASE 04Advise

We brief leadership on where intervention will matter most.

Platforms

Technology we work in

Platform-fluent and vendor-independent. We work inside your environment, or recommend the one that fits.

SH-05 · Outcomes

What changes when we arrive.

Not activity. Results your board, your lenders and your teams can feel.

Outcome 01Attention well spent

Management time and money aimed at the work that really drives the date.

Outcome 02No hidden drivers

Near-critical chains surfaced before they take over.

Outcome 03Reporting that stands up

Critical path statements that survive owner, lender and expert scrutiny.

RFI log · questions answered

What leaders ask us first.

Straight answers. If yours isn't logged here, raise it with us directly. A principal will respond.

Isn't the critical path simply the zero-float activities?

Not reliably. Constraints, calendars and multiple float paths mean zero float and the longest path can diverge. We analyze the driving logic itself, not a float filter.

How often should this analysis be done?

Every update period on complex programs, and immediately after any significant change, delay event or recovery decision.

Can you test a contractor's reported critical path?

Yes. Owners frequently ask us to validate a contractor's critical path before accepting an update or responding to an extension request.

The next step

Command the date you announced.

Book a 45-minute program review with a senior principal. You will leave with an independent read of where your schedule and cost really stand, and the three moves that matter most.
