Why it mattered

Public buildings serve people who cannot wait: courts, emergency services, federal agencies. They have to keep working while they are rebuilt, and every decision has to stand up to public scrutiny.

The challenge

A county sheriff's office built a hardened emergency communications center and training facility to serve a growing population.

Moving 911 dispatch from the old center had to be seamless. Redundant power and communications needed to be proven before a single call was transferred.
